Why are they three different words for "and" when connecting words in Korean?

There are three words for "and" in Korean when connecting words is because Koreans value respect. That is why they have three different politeness levels. Each of the three words belongs to each of the three different politeness levels: casual (people younger than you); normal (people your age); and polite, though not too polite (people who are older/higher than you).
